Picture of the Month
In 2017, I began a Project 365 using social media. By 2026, with the project well beyond its original scope, I decided to stop pretending that sharing anything personal on those platforms was a good idea and moved my project to my website. While the project is limited to members only, I’ll be sharing my favorite picture from each month here. If you want more, become a member by using the “Musings” button below. Thanks for stopping by!
May 2026
It was a good month. We watched Firstborn graduate, I began my final three-year term as state union president, and my Favorite and I began exploring what it is like to parent adult children.
I’m excited about the "Musings" section of my website. I’ve added more than 100 pictures since making the move over there, and once or twice a week, I feel emboldened to pontificate. Having a smaller, curated audience allows me to explore my writing in entirely new ways—shaking off the dust, sharpening my skills, and getting back to the very thing that has always brought me solace, joy, and meaning. Of course, it means I have to keep a close eye on who joins, but the effort is well worth the reward. If you want to see my daily pictures, feel free to click on “Musings”. All it takes is an email address.
April 2026
Spring is an intense time for the union. In April, things accelerated with our state convention and our annual lobbying event in DC. I’m grateful to be entrusted with three more years as president. Oh, and our first grandchild arrived! Being able to post pictures of 'Sneak Attack' while controlling who sees them is one of the main reasons I stopped posting daily photos to social media.
March 2026
It was a month of exploration. Union obligations took me to Nashville and Virginia Beach. My favorite person joined me for the 11 hour drive for the second trip and suggested an awesome side quest to find the New Jersey Dambo Troll. Big Rusty deserves to be an attraction, but it sits in front of an abandoned ceramics factory. The graffitti adds and amazing touch to the experience. A truly unique art gallery.
February 2026
And February comes to an end. A quiet and introspective time. I learned the difference between being fixed and healing. And the healing is ongoing. It’s nice to be using my website again, to be putting my thoughts into a personal project instead of feeding the oligarch’s beast. Yes, it’s a wee bit narcissistic to think I’m anything more than a crumb, but it’s my piece of the whole and I will care for it in my own way.
